Johnson, chairman of LLC, is now a member of the investmen committee ofthe state’s $121.9 billion pension Also, Walé Adeosun is now chairman of that committee. Adeosun is treasurer and chierf investment officerat Rensselaer, in State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli announced the movess late Tuesday. The investment advisory committee review investment strategies forthe state’s retirement fund, and DiNapoli has given the group a stronger oversight role since he took office in Februar y 2007.
The committee provides investment advic e and guidance to DiNapoli andhis “Walé Adeosun brings great knowledge, and more a strong sense of ethics to this Hugh Johnson has built a national reputationm for integrity and DiNapoli said in a statement. The pension fund has 1.04 millioj members and retirees, paying out $6.8 billio in benefits last year. It is the third-largestt public pension fund inthe nation, behind two in Close to 40 percent of the fund is investe d in domestic equities. Other investment categories includ fixed-income assets (28 international equities (17 percent); private equity (8 and real estate (6 percent).
DiNapoli is not permittee to invest more than 25 percent of the fund in investmentas classifiedas “alternative,” including real estate, private equity and absolute returnj strategies.
