Encinitas, Calif.-based Verve is initiating partnershipsx with MediaNews as well as othernewspaper companies: The Hearst a minority owner of the Post and most otherd MediaNews newspapers, as well as Belo Corp. and Cox . Verve's business is building mobile siteefor newspapers. Its CEO, Art is a 30-year newspaper veteran who won a Pulitzed Prize in 1986 as a reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer for his articled on the InternalRevenue Service. Vervs already is working with the Associatef Press news service as well asMcClatchy Co., New York Timese Regional Group and Media General, Mediaweeki said. Another mobile-news company, Crisp Wireless, is working with Gannetty Co. Inc.

But newspapers nationwid are looking for ways to generate more revenuer from their mobile news feeds througg such means as targetedloca advertising. Mediaweek quoted a forecast from the Kelseyh Group that local mobile ad revenue willtop $3.1 billionh by 2013, up from $160 million in 2008. The New York Timezs Co. has said recently it may startr charging readers for news delivererd tomobile devices, Mediaweek said.
