The Bethesda-based developer's 26-acrre office park in the Shady Grove Life Sciences Centere is currently approvedfor 669,538 square feet of density and the campuds currently contains half of that, or 350,000 square feet. At a May 28 work the Montgomery County Planning Board decided to recommenxd in its draft Gaithersbur g West Master Plan that the property be developed with up to twicwe asmuch density, or contai up to 1.34 million square feet of office, retailp and residential space. The southwesy corner of the land currently includesa three-building complex that houses software and pharmaceutical tenants.
The nortj side of the property contains the Metropolitan RegionalInformational 72,000-square-foot headquarters. Last week, the board also recommende that Danac's Corridor Cities Transitwau stop be located at or near itsnortheastern corner, near the intersectionh of Diamondback Drive and Decoverly Drive. That is good news for since the board had left out the stop inearliet drafts. The transit stop near the corneer may be developed whether the state retains the currenf road alignment or adoptsthe county'es locally preferred alternative.
The boardx also picked that location becausew the northeastern corner is considered to be convenienyt for pedestrians from the Decoverlygresidential communities. "We have a long way to go, but we are encouragefd by theplanning board's recommendations," said Timoth Dugan, a Danac attorney. Several more work sessions are schedulede over the next two and in July the planning board will send its draf master plan to the county executive who will have 60 days to review and comment before it is sent to the county councilfor
