Oncor seeks $300M in stimulus funds - Denver Business Journal:

Oncor will apply for the funds throughu the American Recovery and Reinvestment Actof 2009. The deadline to applyg is Aug. 6. Citing data from the Counci l ofEconomic Advisers, Oncor believes the stimulus funds would support the creation of 1,6090 jobs in 2010. If the fundin g is approved, Oncor will spend the money to deploy moresmart switches, which will help the energh company isolate problems in neighborhoodas and reconfigure power lines. Othedr enhancements will include controlling the feeder voltagr throughthe company’s capacitor control and enhancements that will help the electric provider locate electric delivery problems in a more efficient manner, Oncor said.
In downtown electric networks will be modernizeedunder Oncor’s proposed plan. Oncor also is aiming to improvew itstelecommunications network, an improvemenyt that will enhance the company’s power “Oncor’s vision for a modern, interactive, intuitive electric grid is tangible and happening said Oncor Chairman and CEO Bob Shapard. “Outr first considerations in seeking these stimulue grants are whether the funds will help consumerw lower their electric bills or advance smartr grid initiatives to improve serviceand reliability.
